Heldburg is a city in the south of Thuringia. It was considered the southernmost city of the former GDR. Above the village lies the Heldburg Fortress, which is home to the German Castle Museum. The old town of Heldburg, with many half-timbered buildings from the early modern era, is also worth seeing.
