Forchheim is a town in Upper Franconia known as the “gateway to Franconian Switzerland“. The city has a well-preserved historical centre and a prince-bishop’s palace (Kaiserpfalz). In 911 Conrad I. was elected the first East Franconian king in Forchheim. This election marks the beginning of German history.
