Margetshöchheim is located in Lower Franconia on the river Main and is a popular tourist destination for its great ensemble of half-timbered houses. To distinguish it from Veitshöchheim, which is directly opposite on the other bank of the Main, the place was called “Hochheim sanctae Margarethae” from 1330.
