Kempten is one of Germany’s oldest cities, tracing back to Roman times as Cambodunum. The town, as it is known today, was created in the 19th century as a merger of the collegiate town of Kempten Abbey and the imperial town of Kempten. It is known for its Basilica and the Duke-Abbots’ Residence.
