Putbus is a town in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania on the island of Rügen. Although the city was only founded as a planned town in 1810, it is considered the oldest seaside resort in Pomerania. It is nicknamed Rose City, as the citizens were obliged to plant rose bushes when buying the white houses.
