Werneck is a market town in Lower Franconia nicknamed “Versailles of Main-Franconia”. The town is centred around Werneck Castle, which was built as a summer residence for the Prince-Bishops of Würzburg by Balthasar Neumann. From 1855 it served as one of the first psychiatric clinics in Germany.
