Pilsen is the fourth-largest city in the Czech Republic and an important industrial and cultural centre. It is world-famous for Pilsner beer, which was first created here in 1842, and its old town with the Moorish Revival Great Synagogue. Pilsen was the European Capital of Culture, together with Mons, in 2015.
